Ogden, Utah is home to many skiing and snowboarding destinations that offer plenty of great outdoor scenery. The gateway to Snowbasin, Powder Mountain and Wolf Mountain ski resorts located 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, Ogden played a great part in the development of the Transcontinental Railroad historically. Northwest of the city is the Golden Spike National Historic Site which commemorates the completion of the railroads of Central Pacific and Union Pacific. This accomplishment marked the end of the American frontier.
In 2002 the Olympic Winter Games was held in Snowbasin along with the super-G events. Many people knew about this but what they didn't know is the magnificent off-piste and powder shots that are abundant in the destination. For people that are interested in these features should visit the bowls at the Snowbasin Resort or the Powder Mountain. Outstanding groomed trails can also be found on both resorts but for those that are just starting out, Wolf Mountain is the ideal resort for beginners.
